The new resort will include several residential and leisure facilities with a focus on golf, in addition to two man-made beaches and a 500-berth harbour. The development will have the facilities to support 7,500 tourists and already boasts a luxury hotel, high-quality villas and bungalows, an 18-hole superior golf course, golf academy and a 9-hole pitch-and-putt course, which adds up to a grand total of 400 million euros.
The grand investment in the project will place it amongst the most deluxe developments in Gran Canaria. The project organisers hope it will increase the island's tourism, provide many jobs for the locals and help to regenerate the economy of the island.
Anfi has achieved the status of being one of the best-known timeshare companies in the Canary Islands and their current project will not only amplify the area's amenities, but will also create employment for around 1000 people. The development plan features 12 hotels in total, as well as a shopping centre and a clinic specialising in treating respiratory diseases.
Anfi del Mar was the first project in Gran Canaria for the Anfi Group, which led to them becoming an industry leader in the Canary Islands, with around 33,000 members from over 15 countries and a staff number of almost 900.
A spokesman from the Anfi Group commented, "These are the first seeds of a tree that will drive the development of the area and will become one of the most important tourist resorts in Europe".
