Top management from various developers such as Club la Costa, Diamond Resorts International, Resort Properties and more, together with RCI, Interval International and resellers such as Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket attended this first meeting of many to address issues affecting the Timeshare market and industry.
For the first time, some of the major players in the industry came together to discuss how to tackle the issue of owners whose personal circumstances have changed and therefore cannot afford their Timeshare and want to leave the system.
Harry Taylor, the CEO of TATOC said "All these subjects and more were discussed in an open, constructive and frank manner." He continued, "Following our very successful Annual Conference in March and as an association that represents the consumer, we felt that we should keep the impetus going and use this opportunity to move forward as a cohesive body. It is a TATOC initiative and we have been very encouraged as to the interest taken by companies and the industry, and also the commitment to address these issues."
This event was the first time all branches of the industry have met, including representatives of consumers, developers, resale agents, trustees, management and marketing companies. During the discussions the individual organisations put their own issues aside to instead work on the wider industry challenges.
The next step now is to agree action points and to review progress at the next meeting in October.
The idea of these meetings is "Less talk and more action." Taylor said, "It was also recognised that this is a huge challenge and will not be overcome immediately, but by taking small steps and working together miracles can and will happen."
