How Timeshare Maintenance Fees are Utilised

Disney publishes its maintenance list

Wednesday 14th April 2010

One of the most frequent questions from Timeshare owners surrounds the topic of maintenance fees - why are they paid? What are they used for? Who determines the total of monies to be paid?
A recent article from Disney reveals what they consider necessary maintenance. This includes the refinishing of wooden floors or replacing of carpets, painting of Timeshare units and replacing blinds and curtains. Sofas and love seats are to be reupholstered and all one-bedroom and larger Timeshare units will receive a twin sleeper chair. Kitchens will be refurbished with new granite work surfaces and hardware for the cabinets. Ceiling fans will be replaced throughout and additional lamps will feature in the living room and master bedroom. Electronics will be upgraded and existing televisions replaced with flat screen systems.
Other examples of the use of maintenance fees include:
  • furnishings and carpet
  • property taxes
  • insurance
  • cable television
  • phone and utilities
  • repainting exterior
  • pool maintenance, cleaning and heating
Although nobody likes having to pay bills, maintenance fees are a fact of Timeshare ownership as they ensure that the value and quality of your Timeshare holiday ownership remains high and will continue to provide you with a fantastic experience year after year.
